Coats to Appalachia

Each fall we travel to a small school in rural Appalachia—the same school we visit each summer to perform maintenance and an educational camp—to provide underprivileged  children with new, warm coats for the upcoming winter. Earlier this week, our small team of Matthew 25: Ministries staff and representatives from Cintas helped distribute these new coats to the students. The children were all very excited and appreciative to receive these new coats since many of them would not have otherwise had proper clothing to protect them from the cold winter weather.

For one young kindergartener in the group, it was his first year receiving a new coat. He was extremely happy and grateful for his bright blue coat, hat, and gloves. He said he couldn’t wait to play outside in the snow and throw snowballs now, since he’ll have a warm coat to wear.  He smiled so big and pulled the coat tight around himself whenever someone asked him a question, as if he never wanted to let go of this exciting new gift.
