Japan is taking precautions against radiation poisoning following the explosion at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant. The blast was inevitable after four nuclear reactors failed to keep the cooling system running.
The official death toll in Japan stands at 574, though the count is feared to reach over 10,000 as many are believed to be buried under the debris and rubble of the earthquake and tsunami. Many remain unaccounted for as the affected areas are not able to be reached by rescue teams.
